We continue to have a commitment to research
The Dorr Institute for Arthritis Research and Education is a foundation which
funds research for improvement in total hip replacement and total knee
replacement. There is a full-time research team of Zhinian Wan, M.D. Annually,
we have fellows who also participate in the research. A research fellow is
dedicated to our investigations. A clinical fellow participates in the care
of the patients and also participates in research. In the last 20 years our
research has provided pioneering information on bone ingrowth fixation,
hydroxyapatite as a fixation surface, metal on metal as an articulation surface,
the results of the use of cross-linked polyethylene for articulation, the
development of posterior minimally invasive surgery (MIS) and the current
development of the use of computers for precision in THR.
Dr. Dorr is extensively involved in designing and developing new surgical
instruments and implants. He is considered a pioneer in the field of joint
replacement.
Dr. Dorr has said "one of the most satisfying accomplishments of my career
has been the contribution to the betterment of patients' lives that have been
made by our research. We continue to have a commitment to research".
